“It’s who you are and the way you live that counts before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before Him in their worship. God is sheer being itself- Spirit. Those who worship Him must do it out of their very being, their spirit, their true selves, in adoration”. John 4:23-24
Religion has taught us through its systems to try and reach out to God, touch God, win His approval and impress our way into His presence. But the opposite is the reality. God loves us. God is reaching out to us. God wants to touch us! He wants us to show up just the way we are and let our hearts respond to Him. What He really wants from people is a sincere heart that is drawn to Him. He wants those who are “simply and honestly themselves before Him in their worship”.
Today, I believe we will come to see that worship is from a source within you. A source that responds to the call of God’s love.
“The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life”. Jesus.
There is something within you that can release the most beautiful expression of worship. God doesn’t want you to hold back. But in all sincerity, just the way you are, insecure, weary, struggling; God wants you to love on Him with all your heart. He doesn’t want you to put up a show. He isn’t into stage performances! God wants you to worship and be sincere about it.
Every outward expression devoid of the sincerity, the truth that springs out of your innermost being is a stage play! 😀 And every performance you put up will come crashing in your face!
I am all for expressions in the place of worship, but let your physical expressions come from the spring within. Let your worship expressions be the deepest release of your love for Him. The Father seeketh such to worship Him.
It’s interesting how that God is first after your heart before your act. He examines your acts from your hearts perspective.
“Then every church will know that appearances don’t impress me. I x-ray every motive and make sure you get what is coming to you”. Rev 2:23 (Msg)
“God is spirit. Those people who worship Him must worship from their spirits. They must really want to worship God”. Jn 4:24 (EasyEnglish)
I believe that this is the heart and soul of our worship.
It is a heart-response to Gods love. It is a river flowing from the depths of my soul. It is not dependent on how good a performer I am. It’s not affected by my weaknesses, struggles and fears. Amen?
I hope this blesses you.
